Richland School District

Richland is the 3rd largest residential community in the Tri-Cities with a population of 61,320. The school district maintains 21 schools with nearly 15,000 students enrolled.

The city is famous for its WWII contributions and there are many local references to the atomic age, including a High School mascot--the Richland Bombers. In 1943 the U.S. Government acquired 640 rural square miles that became the location of Hanford Works. They built an entire city, supplying the houses (commonly referred to as alphabet homes), furniture, food, and supplies for the nuclear facility and its workers.

Richland maintains a strong basis in science and technology. The Hanford Site, along with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is the source of many research, engineering, and tech jobs.

Richland maintains a beautiful five-mile paved trail along the public waterfront including Columbia Point, Howard Amon, and Leslie Groves parks. There are marinas, 3 public golf courses, and unique attractions such as the U.S.S. Triton Submarine park and the REACH Interpretive Center. Vinters Square at Queensgate is growing quickly with newer shopping and restaurants. Richland residents show strong support for local and historical businesses as well-the downtown Parkway and Uptown Shopping Center are brimming with antique and specialty shops.

Richland hosts a Medieval Renaissance Fair, an Art-in-the-Park show on boat race weekend, Cool Desert Nights (a classic car and street rod event), a holiday Lighted Boat Parade, a farmer’s market, and a weekly outdoor concert series at the John Dam Plaza. It’s a fantastic place to live, work, and play.
